How does one get to the point of admitting a child to hospice? This would not be an easy decision to make, until Christopher Penayou hear the story of Christopher Pena. Human nature inspires us to give every opportunity possible to a child before we accept the fact the child is going to die. True of any hospice situation, it becomes a realization and a question of compassion.

For Kristi Pena, the realization came when the doctors informed her that her infant son had very few months to live. The compassion came as she stared at strangers probing and prodding at her small infant. Christopher was on a feeding tube and connected to other annoying equipment. Being out of state, away from her family and her 10 year old son, her motherly compassion took charge. Kristi along with her husband Christopher Sr decided in order to give this little one the love and care he deserved in his final days, they would take him home. Being at home would give Kristi and Christopher an opportunity to bond with this child for as much time as God would allow. In order to do so, Kristi had to quit her job. She is not in a regretful stage or a pity stage. Her faith is in God, knowing he has his reasons for every situation and he will provide a way for survival. She is determined to make the best of this situation. Kristi and Christopher have realized through this that they have been prideful people. Finding it hard to accept handouts from others. The financial strain has been much since she is not working. In addition, their 10 year old is about to start school. They have not solicited help from anyone. They can only condition themselves to receive the help God sends their way.

On Saturday, August 9, we are asking for community support for this family. Come out to hear their story first hand. The benefit will include entertainment from Smiley the Clown, Dance Unlimited and much more. All proceeds will benefit the Pena Family. Donations will be accepted.
